The Havanese is a diverse breed that comes in many colors and markings. This is part of what makes the breed so special and beautiful! If you are looking for a Havanese as a pet, then just enjoy all of the beautiful colors. If, however, you are looking to show your Havanese in the show ring, then you will need to know some of the AKC’s unacceptable colors in order to avoid them.

Some unaccepted colors are:

  • Black & Silver Brindle
  • Black & Tan Brindle
  • Blue
  • Blue Brindle
  • Chocolate Brindle
  • Chocolate Sable
  • Fawn Brindle
  • Fawn Sable
  • Silver Sable

The American Kennel Club recognizes the following colors and markings as acceptable for conformation shows:
